  A Memorial First

  i've been out for a good solid 7 years.. last night was the 2nd memorial in a row i did not attend.. this year's memorial was the 1st time i did not receive an invitation or a visit or a phone call from anyone asking me to attend.. in fact, i didn't even realize it was last night until i got on this website this morning.. it feels great!.

  I have not seen the usual door to door activity in our neighborhood either . The only invite I saw was one yesterday laying on the counter at the shop I work at ,it must have just been delivered Tuesday morning before I got there .

  My Wife's Father Passed Away

  well, the day finally arrived.

  everyone says we were expecting it...but, not really.

  my wife's dad passed away.. he suffered for many years and we were at odds about medications and intrusiveness, but he was just a man in great pain, desperate for relief.

  Dear TOTH , Please pass on my deepest sympathy to your wife . I am so sorry...

  A Kingdom Hall funeral is never comforting . Please do have your own kind of memorial for your Father in law it will be more meaningful for all of you .

  i have seen answers strewn throughout many posts but never consolidated.

  When the Elders finally came by for a 'visit' after four yrs of not attending the meetings I asked several questions . One question was about the change in what parts of blood were now acceptable ...the Elder laughed it off and said he would bring me more information because the Watchtower clearly explained everything . After several other questions ,well rather statements ,he just told me it was easy if I no longer wanted to be a JW all I had to do was write a letter stating that .

  They were not interested in answering questions they were interested in getting me back in line ,period . Elders have their own agenda when they visit you ,and it does not include understanding your questions or problems .

  If your friend wants to ask questions of the Elders and not set off alarms they may frame it as 'questions a worldly friend has brought to their attention and they need help answering them' .

  However it will still put this person on the Elders radar . They will do anything now to snatch this person from the fire so to speak . Warning what kind of associates are they keeping, and the like . Your friend will have to present the questions carefully ,remaining humble and meek ,willing to take the Elders advice .

  Oh I can just imagine how comforting the Elders are when a sister talks to them about being raped ......Because first they are going to want to know what led up to this ,how were you dressed , who were you with , why were you alone ,did you know the rapist blah,blah,blah ? Then the barage of questions on what actually occured ,how did you react ,details ......then they will have a ten minute private discussion amongst themselves on how to procede . If then in their eyes the woman is truly without blame them maybe she will recieve some comforting scriptures read to her ......but you can just about bet they won't suggest she seek rape counseling from an actual specialist . Awesome

  she was in very bad shape when i last spoke with her over a year ago.. "i'll make this short in case it is not functioning.

  Interesting Findings from the ESA Plank Satellite

  the european space agency has produced a fascinating map of the universe using the super dooper plank satelite.. by stripping out dust emissions and radio frequencies from the milky way galaxy and more distant objects to leave just the afterglow of the big bang, an image of the microwave radiation (measured over a 15 month period) has been obtained that gives an extremely precise picture of the universe just 380,000 years after the big bang.. what we have learned from this data is the universe is some 80 million years older than we thought, the universe is made up of slightly more ordinary matter than was previously thought - 4.9% of all matter, up from 4.5% - and that there is less dark energy (which cosmologists don't understand) than previously thought and also it has an axis of evil (it appears the early universe was assymetrical) and a cold spot!!.

  so we need to go back to the drawing board with regard to inflation theory to account for the asymmetry and cold spot.. this is why i love science, the more we learn, the more we have to learn.

  Such a sad story ,I hope they both survive . The poor 78 yr old woman ....that is going to be a rough recovery .

  I always was leary of farm dogs in our rural territory when I was going door to door . (We had a young sister get bitten pretty badly one time ) One of the brothers carried a baseball bat under his front seat after that ...

  This past week in a town close to us , a 7 yr old boy was killed by a friends pit bull . He was in their back yard ,and the dog broke its chain ,and attacked the boy .

  What I always loved was when an Elder would tell you something was totally your decision ......then add, but if that is what you decide you will then be limited in receiving certain priviledges ......

  My Dad told me they talked with a forked tongue ,Why didn't I listen to him earlier ?
